NO 19 is really giving it to me. You are too good for me mate. Again, I am gonna have to wait for you answers. Keep up with good work. Chris

My job is not to beat you Chris, in fact, I consider that I have failed if you can’t work it out with a little persistence. It probably means I need to ease up. Please let me know which clues need extra clue hints so you can resume the battle.

Hey David. No problem here. I enjoy the fact that I can’t work it out. You are doing your job in making me have to think outside the square. It is awesome and keeps me going. Chris

    Please don’t ease up.

8 down was complete guess. I’m not sure that the definition that you used was obvious enough.

Loved 9 across. It reminds me that I need to find time to get back into his old puzzles before a pay wall is put up. [My favourite: People like Lolita – its a difficult thing to do. (3,7)]

8d is a good example of why you need a really good dictionary (or two), if you want to solve these crosswords with confidence.

    • David Stickley says:

      Hi Robert,

In hindsight I think you are right about the definition in 8-down. “Favour” as a supporter’s badge appears in all my references except my concise ones. I usually stick to concise references (although they do vary greatly) but I obviously didn’t check it in this instance.

      Best

      David
