Made life hard for myself in the NW corner by entering 3d wrong. Otherwise, enjoyed the usual deceptive surfaces and impeccable cryptic instructions. Cheers.

  2. Bhavan says:

David, wanted to ask how do you go about typically filling a grid. Always start with 1ac or 1dn? Longest words/phrases first? A word for which you already have a clue goes in first? Or some other ‘method’ ?

  3. peter lisberg says:

welcome back, and thank you for persisting. Have been trying the Guardian’s Cryptic, but yours suit much better. Win Lotto or something, so you can continue.

  4. Greg Mansell says:

This was tough. Just about every clue appealed, with special mention for 12ac, 29ac and my favourite 27ac. I’m not confident that I’ve got 25dn right. Guess I’ll have to wait till Monday.

  5. Robert Balic says:

I’m not getting a congratulations. Looks like 25dn might be wrong for me as well.

    • David Stickley says:

Certainly cryptic definitions can cause trouble, especially when the crossing letters are so common. My mistake. Let’s just say these hummers aren’t vehicles, in fact, they aren’t people.

    • Robert Balic says:

I’m starting to think that I stuffed up somewhere else. Its giving me a rash.
