Stickler weekly no. 38 — is clue 28 across correct? or should it read Check soldier once.
Thanks Jenny. Fixed.
In 27ac, is ‘taking’ enough for ‘having inside’, or is ‘in’ doing double duty ?
Yes, I think “taking” does the job by itself.
Chambers lists “take” as:
“to lay hold of; to get into one’s possession; to seize, catch, capture; to captivate;”
Take drugs, take medicine etc.
Double duty is a poor compiler’s tool.
