need a hint for 17 down…if pompous one is ass I can’t find a word for “relocated” that fits. I tried “isolated” but that doesn’t jibe with the clues any way I read them.

      Hi Michael,

“Pompous one” isn’t ass, in fact, these two words aren’t related to each other cluewise. There’s a little trick in this clue of sorts: an ordinary word has a bigger role than might be expected. Look at “relocated” more closely – what could it be?

    Hi David
28a ‘tricky’ indeed – would not have found that without reference.
10a, 12a especially more ‘tricky’, 5d, 8d (timely), to name but a few, had me going.
Many thanks for another great weekly ‘fix’.
All Best Wishes and greater success in 2015
